Baldur was about as strong as Kratos, but what gave him the edge was that he couldn’t feel anything, not even pain, tiredness, or emotions. Baldur Image via Sonyīaldur looks frail and weak at first glance, but we all saw how hard it was for Kratos to kill him, especially in the first battle. Since he governed the waters and had been around longer than Zeus, he was hard to beat. Poseidon nearly defeated Kratos by projecting himself into a monstrous monster underwater. In God of War III’s opening, Kratos fought the sea god. Hades was able to steal the souls of even the Titans with his hooks. He is a necromancer and can control shadows. Hades controlled the underworld souls, which promptly consumed everyone who fell into the River Styx. All this must have contributed to Hades becoming the cruel and masochistic god Kratos fought. His wife hated him, he ruled the domain for tortured souls, and the other gods on Mount Olympus mostly disregarded or disliked him. Hades is the eldest and most twisted of the Olympic brothers (Zeus, Poseidon, Hades). He also competed with his younger sister Athena, who was a goddess of wisdom. After the Great War of the Gods and Titans, he served his father. Ares Image via SonyĪres, the God of War, was the son of Zeus and Hera. Thor may not have Odin’s magical powers, but he’s certainly a greater fighter (maybe even a monster). The 2018 game’s tease suggested that he’ll return in God of War Ragnarok, along with other popular Norse Gods. Thor’s dread in Norway earns him a top-5 ranking.
Thanatos is essentially a better, more composed version of Hades, which easily places him near the top of this list. Thanatos might also transform into a savage beast capable of consuming anything. He could imprison anyone for all eternity and keep them from dying. Thanatos had complete power over bodies, transforming them into fully functional adversaries. His lightning bolts easily repelled Kratos and Gaia. He can shapeshift, grant powers, teleport, and change size. Kratos had to slay every god and demi-god to defeat Zeus, the ruler of Olympus. Kratos is dangerous because he always overcomes his vulnerabilities. He has killed humans, half-gods, complete gods, titans, and everyone else without being killed. Kratos is currently in Norse mythology and undefeated. Kratos single-handedly destroyed Pandora’s Temple, the Sisters of Fate, Olympus, the Valkyries, and even the invulnerable Baldur because they were in his way. This spotless record is one reason he’s so popular, appears in so many games, and is frequently requested by fans for more Greek-themed games.
